Multi storey building, structure to finishes

A framed multi storey building in the middle of its finishing sequence: full height scaffold, external render being made good, glazing units going in with their protective film still on, and grey cladding panels fixed between the openings.

This is the stage where an MEP contractor either has an easy job or a very hard one. Everything buried in the structure was decided months earlier. If the conduit, sleeves and cutouts were cast in the right places, the boards, the risers and the fittings simply land. If they were not, the finished face has to be opened up again, and that shows for the life of the building.

The frame above was built with a tower crane, and the heavier lifts were taken at night when the surrounding roads were clear.
